Hello and Welcome to Mountains In Motion Dance Project! I hope you all had a wonderful summer and are ready to start dancing! I would first like to congratulate all of the 2007-2008 Mountains in Motion dancers for their outstanding performances during our Dancing Through the Decades recital. You captivated the audiences with your talent & made me very, very proud!!! I would also like to thank everyone who participated in the summer dance camp. You were awesome! I am constantly amazed by how much you are able to learn in such a short amount of time. The dedication and passion that I see throughout camp and the school year, is truly humbling. Keep up the marvelous work! For those of you who are new to the program, welcome! I come to you from Long Island where I passionately studied ballet, jazz and tap for over 20 years. While on Long Island, I participated in a local company and had many great opportunities to perform and take classes in New York City. I then went on to receive my B.F.A in modern dance from SUNY Brockport. While at Brockport, I studied intensively with professors, students and guest artists and was a principal dancer for the Kista Tucker Dance Company. I am thrilled that I am able to share the gift of dance with all of you in the North Country! Aside from Mountains in Motion, I have been fortunate to choreograph for the Saranac Lake and Tupper Lake High School musicals, musicals at the LPCA, First Night, Winter Carnival Court, ORDA, as well as many other dance opportunities that have allowed me become more involved in this wonderful Tri-Lakes community. I am honored and excited to be entering into our 6th year of Mountains in Motion and am thrilled that we are starting off the dance year with a new studio in Saranac Lake! It has been a dream of mine since the beginning of the program to have my own studio and I can not believe it has come true. I am most excited to be providing a home base for the dancers, a place to call their own. There has been lots of work to do to get the space ready and I can not wait for you all to see it! Don't worry, Tupper Lake dancers - I will still be teaching at HGA and am planning on getting a studio in town someday! There will be a recital to look forward to on June 6th, 2009. Times and theme are to be determined. There will be a 5 week winter session from January 5th - February 14th (Times and days are TBA) The schedule will then return to normal for the spring session which will run from March 2nd - June 5th. I will be sending out more information and scheduling during the fall session & you can look for updated info on the website. If you know of any one interested in taking class, please let them know that new students are welcome at any time. The goal of MIM is to explore and share all of the different elements of dance as well as expanding each dancer's technique in a healthy, nurturing dance environment. I incorporate different movement styles and diverse music to enhance each dancer's movement experience in a safe and supportive atmosphere. I believe in finding the balance between proper technique and alignment to help the dancers move in the safest and most efficient way, while maintaining a positive and fun atmosphere! I would like to thank you all so much for your continued support, help, encouragement and enthusiasm. I am looking forward to this dance year and many more years to come. Let us all continue to work together to create memories for our dancers that will last a lifetime!
Love,
