Feel good about an environmentally responsible vacation at Wakanda Cabins.

Enjoy private swim beaches with sandy bottoms and gentle slopes. Refresh yourself with extensive canoeing, kayaking and fishing on 25 miles of waterways. Nature trails on the property connect to miles of biking and hiking.

Wakanda is a privately-owned twelve-acre "green" retreat with just four cabins on 1500 feet of lakefront. In the Great Camp tradition, the cabins share the connecting trails, beaches, and complimentary canoes, kayaks, and stand up paddleboard (SUP); yet each is unique and has its own waterfront. Each cottage is fully equipped (including sun-dried linens) and very comfortably furnished -- you'll feel relaxed and at home right away. The peaceful surroundings will enchant you; the recreational activities will call to you -- without the distraction of TV's, the internet, and ringing phones.  Clean water, no pesticides, no fertilizers; we Reduce, Reuse, Recycle.

Paddling on Rainbow Lake
Rainbow Lake is in the heart of the Adirondack Park (10 minutes from Saranac Lake and 25 minutes from Lake Placid) where the unique combination of mountains and lakes has made canoeing one of the most popular forms of recreation. Whether you're a novice (and just want to "hang out" on the water), or an experienced paddler, there are plenty of opportunities for enjoyment.

The geography of the lake lends itself to both short and long paddles around eskers, up flows, around islands, in and out of coves, or to other lake systems. Beaver, otter, loons, ducks, herons, bass, and walleye inhabit the waters. Bald eagles, osprey, king fishers, hawks, and owls are in the skies.

Whether you choose to hang out at the beaches, canoe or kayak the waters, try out our new Stand Up Paddleboard (SUP), fish off your dock, relax around your cabin, toss a few horseshoes, hike nearby trails and mountain peaks, visit the Olympic venues in Lake Placid, or stroll historic downtown Saranac Lake you'll find that Wakanda and the surrounding area has plenty to offer.

Enjoy a special vacation with clean air and clean water in a vibrant ecosystem. Re-establish your connection to nature in Wakanda's peaceful and loving environment. Allow the beauty and strength of the pine trees to inspire a healing experience.

Please browse our Photos and read about each individual cabin to find out which one will most suit your needs. Many people have found that the hospitality, the little thoughtful touches, the setting, and the overall Wakanda experience surpasses their expectations.
